London Diocesan Board of Schools
The Church of England has been establishing and sustaining schools for the people of London for hundreds of years. In 1836 the London Diocesan Board for Schools was established to support the rapid increase in the number of new schools in the Diocese of London. In 1924 the Board was incorporated as a charitable company.
Key purposes of the LDBS are “to promote church schools” and “to promote education which is consistent with the faith and practice of the Church of England”.
To achieve these purposes, the LDBS support over 160 Church of England Schools, 2 community schools and a community nursery in a variety of ways across 18 North London local authorities.
